Walking and Cycling
From the moment you step out the door of New Hanson Bungalow you have access to numerous footpaths which you can follow over the hills and down the dale to the picturesque hamlet of Milldale and continue down the river to the famous "stepping stones" at Dovedale.
Crossing fields in the opposite direction takes you to the Alsop Station car park access of the Tissington trail, the old railway route between Ashbourne and Buxton. Turn left to visit the village of Hartington or right takes you to Ashbourne passing through the beautiful village of Tissington. Cycle hire is available at Parsley Hay and Mappleton.

Guests at New Hanson Grange are ideally located for numerous attractions from theme parks, to stately homes and numerous caves and mines. Follow the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site from Matlock Bath to Derby and explore Richard Arkwright’s mills that revolutionised the textile industry in the 18th Century.
Alton Towers the UK’s most popular theme park is just 30 minutes’ drive away, home to rides such as Oblivion, Air and the Smiler as well as Splash Landings the indoor water park, make it a fun for all the family. For younger children Gulliver’s Kingdom at Matlock bath. Derbyshire is home to a wealth of castles and stately homes including one of the most famous Chatsworth House residence of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, visitors can explore not only the magnificent house and gardens but also the 1000 acres of parkland.
Local agricultural and country shows are a fun day out for all the family, along with livestock displays and competitions, trade stands and food halls, main ring entertainment can be anything from monster trucks to show jumping and sheepdog displays. Below are a list of some of the local shows:
